Metabolics during pregnancy studied

Whole body nonoxidative leucine disposal (NOLD) is higher in pregnant women during their last trimester, but whole body oxidative leucine disposal (OLD) shows no change, study data indicate.

"Plasma amino acid concentrations decrease in pregnancy despite increased requirements for both maternal and fetal protein accretion.
