Pros and cons of FDG PET in breast cancer follow-up reviewed

The pros and cons of fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography in breast cancer follow-up were the focus of a recent paper by imaging technology specialists in Austria.

P. Lind and colleagues, LKH Klagenfurt, PET CT Center, wrote: "18F-Fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET) has been evaluated in breast cancer for the characterization of primary tumors, lymph node staging, and the follow-up of patients after surgery, chemotherapy, and/or external radiotherapy.
