Expecta LIPIL is, according to the company, the only nonprescription, non-fish DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) supplement marketed exclusively for pregnant and nursing women. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid not found in most prenatal vitamins. DHA is most abundant in fish such as salmon, tuna, and halibut and is essential for brain, eye, and central nervous system development during gestation and the first 2 years of life.
