Black tea polyphenols may inhibit hormone-dependent breast tumors

Black tea polyphenols may have some chemopreventive activity against hormone-dependent breast tumors, say biochemists. "The aromatase enzyme, which converts androstenedione to estrone, regulates the availability of estrogen to support the growth of hormone-dependent breast tumors. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of black tea polyphenols on aromatase activities," reported T.D. Way and colleagues, National Taiwan University.
