Rates of contraceptive use at first intercourse studied among Australian youth

Rates of contraceptive use at first intercourse among young people in Australia are similar to those recorded in other developed countries, researchers there say. And like other westernized countries, the rate of non-use at first intercourse is a concern. A.C. Grunseit, Bur Crime Statistics & Research, Sydney, wrote, "Condom and contraceptive use at first intercourse have become important reference points in monitoring the sexual health of young people. This study describes the precautionary practices of a national stratified cluster sample of 3,133 Australian hairdressing, automotive, and commercial cookery apprentices aged 15 to 24 years." ...
