Increased kidney growth studied in formula-fed versus breast-fed healthy infants

A research team from Denmark has chronicled the increased kidney growth that occurs in healthy infants who receive breast milk, versus formula-fed infants. It was known that a high protein intake resulted in increased kidney growth and glomerular filtration rate in human adults and young rats. However, "it was unknown "whether kidney size in young infants is influenced by increased protein intake in formula-fed compared with breast-fed infants," wrote I.M.
