Cleveland Clinic implements Rapid Capture System for cervical cancer screening

The Cleveland Clinic laboratories have implemented Digene's (DIGE) Rapid Capture System to screen women for high-risk types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), the primary cause of cervical cancer, with Digene's DNAwithPap Test. Digene's Rapid Capture System enables labs to enhance their cervical cancer screening capability with high-throughput HPV testing that, the company says, reduces labor, increases sample throughput, and improves testing capacity. "Physicians are increasingly ordering HPV tests in addition to Paps to more sensitively assess their female patients' risk for developing cervical cancer.
