December 23rd, 2004
Results of an in vitro study suggest that dysregulation of the interleukin (IL)-1/IL-1 receptor system may be associated with immunologic dysfunction in endometriosis. M. Nishida and colleagues, Oita University, Japan, studied chemokine involvement in pathogenesis of endometriosis. They "investigated the expression of CXC chemokines in cultured ovarian endometriotic cyst stromal cells (ECSC), endometrial stromal cells with endometriosis (ESCwE), and normal endometrial stromal cells (NESC)."
