Health experts urge U.S. to expand AIDS prevention policies

Health experts urged the Bush administration on December 1, 2004, to move beyond the ABCs of global AIDS prevention, abstinence, being faithful and using condoms, and help women who are infected through factors beyond their control.

"Millions of women become infected while monogamous and faithful, so focusing solely on personal behavior and risk absolutely does not go far enough," said Geeta Rao Gupta, president of the International Center for Research on Women.
