Loss of Syk expression is progressive during breast tumor development. According to a study from the United States, "The tumor suppressor gene Syk tyrosine kinase is absent or reduced in invasive breast cancer tissues and cell lines; its loss in breast tissues is linked to poor prognosis and metastasis.
