Parents advised to limit kids' sugar, establish good dental hygiene programs

Advice to parents from Crest is to try to limit the number of occasions children have sugary drinks and long-lasting sweets, like hard lollipops, so you can cut down the amount of time your child's teeth are exposed to sugar. Research shows that children who eat sweets every day have almost twice as much tooth decay as those who eat sweets less often. Dr. Gary Stephenson, a spokesperson from Crest, stated, "It is important to remember that plaque takes a period of time to build up, and without plaque, the sugar we eat cannot be converted into acid which is what damages teeth.
