Mood stabilizers may help bulimic SSRI non-responders

Mood stabilizer drugs may be useful treatment for patients with bulimia or binge-eating disorder who don't respond to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Using the Medline and Cochrane Library databases, M. Bellini and colleagues, University of Bologna, reviewed and compared "findings from controlled trials and previous reviews concerning current drug treatment of patients suffering from bulimia nervosa (BN) and binge-eating disorder (BED)."
