High dietary intake of magnesium may help reduce women's risk

High levels of magnesium in their diet may help protect women from developing colorectal cancer, Karolinska Institute researchers say. "Animal studies have suggested that dietary magnesium may play a role in the prevention of colorectal cancer, but data in humans are lacking," noted Susanna C. Larsson, MSc, of the National Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, and her colleagues. For their study, reported in the January 5, 2005, issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, the researchers used data from the Swedish Mammography Cohort, a population-based prospective cohort of 61,433 women...
