Pharma company updates breast cancer research results from 2004 symposium

Data emerging from the 2004 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) continues to confirm the expanding role of aromatase inhibitors (AIs) in the treatment of postmenopausal breast cancer while reinforcing the need for ongoing research. The recently updated guidance from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) reinforces the important role AIs play in the treatment of breast cancer. The guidance supports the use of Femara for at least 2-1/2 years, in patients who have completed standard adjuvant tamoxifen therapy.
