Reports advance knowledge in cervical cancer research

Reports from the United States and People's Republic of China highlight recent research on cervical cancer. Study 1: Scientists with the U.S. National Cancer Institute have conducted a case-control study looking at risk factors for invasive ovarian cancer among women exposed to oncogenic types of human papillomavirus. T.S. Shields and colleagues wrote, "Oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, the necessary cause of most cervical cancers, are common and usually clear within 1 to 2 years.
