Frequency of vulvovaginal candidiasis in children with type 1 diabetes studied

Pediatricians at Erciyes University in Turkey have conducted a prospective study of the frequency of vulvovaginal candidiasis in a small group of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. They identified Candida species from yeast cultures of samples from the children, and also assessed ketoconazole resistance in female children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1).
