UN committee discusses domestic violence, sexual exploitation in Paraguay

Domestic violence, sexual exploitation, women's participation in public life, trafficking in women and children, as well as persistent negative stereotypes were among the issues addressed by the United Nations Committee monitoring implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women as it considered Paraguay's compliance with that instrument in two meetings held January 14, 2005. Paraguay ratified the Convention in 1987 and the Optional Protocol to the instrument in 2001.
