Two-year soy study finds no change in premenopausal women's breast density

Results of a 2-year study of the effects of dietary soy on breast density in premenopausal women found no significant differences due to soy consumption. According to G. Maskarinec and colleagues, Cancer Research Center Hawaii, Honolulu, "Soy consumption may be related to lower breast cancer risk as assessed by breast density. The aims of this 2-year trial were to examine the effects of soy foods and lifetime soy intake on mammographic density." They randomly assigned 220 premenopausal women to either the intervention or control group.
