Chemotherapeutic drug gets 2 new European approvals as breast cancer treatment

Sanofi-aventis announced that the European Commission has approved 2 new indications for Taxotere (docetaxel) injection concentrate for treatment of breast cancer. The first indication granted Taxotere, in combination with doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide, is for the adjuvant treatment of patients with operable node- positive breast cancer. A second indication granted Taxotere, in combination with Herceptin (trastuzumab), is for the treatment of patients with metastatic breast cancer whose tumors over-express the Her2 gene. The commission approval is based on the results of 2 separate large randomized international trials. ...
