Study 1: Oxidative stress, increased after menopause, is reduced by hormone and estrogen-only replacement therapy, according to a study from Poland.
"Estradiol (E-2) has antioxidant properties. The role of progestins in antioxidant defense is still unknown. We have evaluated the influence of E-2 and E-2 plus medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) on serum lipid peroxide (LPO) levels, a marker of free radical reactions, and serum total antioxidant status (TAS) in postmenopausal women," reported G. Bednarek-Tupikowska and colleagues.
