Fitness program lends support to women, families

Patte Lazarus took part in a fitness boot camp 2 years ago. She didn't yet know the techniques she learned there would help local women cope with breast cancer. Lazarus was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was taking the class. Her workout chum Anita Kellman gave her a Navy SEALS shirt to wear on her first day of chemotherapy. The idea was for Lazarus to be strong, Kellman said. That mentality helped Lazarus and Kellman, who has worked in breast imaging for 25 years, form the Breast Cancer Boot Camp.
