India: One lifetime Pap test between ages 41-50 said to be effective screening

Gynecologists in Lucknow, India, cite their 32 years of experience and data in suggesting that a single lifetime Pap smear taken between the ages of 41 and 50 effectively screens for cervical cancer in the setting of a developing country. "In view of the huge expenditure involved in mass cytological screening as well as lack of cytology manpower in the developing countries, single lifetime screening at 45 years of age has been suggested as feasible strategy for control of cervical cancer," wrote J.S.
