Hypertension research advances have been reported from the United States and People's Republic of China. Study 1: The endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene may play a role in predisposing females to hypertension. "Impaired endothelial function caused by decreased nitric oxide (NO) production plays a pathophysiologic role in essential hypertension.
