Oral contraceptives containing drospirenone reduce the prevalence of premenstrual symptoms, report physician-researchers in Thailand. M. Sangthawan and S. Taneepanichskul, with King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, conducted an open-label randomized study that "compared the effects of two combined oral contraceptives (OCs) containing 3 mg drospirenone (DRSP)/30 mcg ethinyl estradiol (EE) with 150 mcg levonorgestrel (LNG)/30 mcg EE on the prevalence and changes from baseline of premenstrual symptoms after six cycles." Study subjects' "symptoms were measured using the Women's Health Assessment Questionnaire." ...
