Women gain slightly higher health benefit than men from imbibing alcohol

Women see a slightly higher health benefit over men from alcohol consumption.

According to 12 separate studies reviewed recently in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, "women see a slightly higher health benefit over men from alcohol consumption. More studies are needed, however, to determine if there are more significant results from wine, other spirits, or beer."

"Our study confirmed the so-called 'J shape curve': low to moderate amounts of alcohol reduce cardiovascular risk, while larger quantities raise it," stated Giovanni de Gaetano, corresponding author of the review. "We did not observe statistically significant differences...
