New immunotherapeutic approach evaluated for advanced disease

Scientists at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center are evaluating a new immunotherapeutic approach to treating metastatic breast cancer. The approach, now in early trials at a handful of institutions around the U.S., counters one of the most vexing problems in fighting cancer: the inability of the immune system to "see" cancer cells as foreign or undesirable, says Charles Shapiro, director of breast medical oncology at The Ohio State University Arthur G.
