Difference in survival rates between Denmark and Sweden investigated

Oncologists at Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark would like to determine why Sweden's breast cancer survival rate is higher than Denmark's. Earlier detection may be one factor, they observed, but other identification of other specific factors eluded them. A.R. Jensen and colleagues wrote, "Breast cancer survival differs 9 percentage points between the neighboring countries of Denmark and Sweden. The authors' aim was to analyze whether this was caused by early detection in Sweden. The extent of disease and outcome was compared in two population-based breast cancer cohorts in 1983-1989."
