Higher enterolactone levels linked to lower risk of ERalpha-negative cancer

A study from Denmark determined that higher plasma concentrations of the phytoestrogen enterolactone are associated with lower risk of developing estrogen receptor-negative breast cancer. "The phytoestrogen enterolactone has been hypothesized to prevent breast cancer. Because one of the biological effects of enterolactone is probably estrogenic, it is possible that the preventive effect on breast cancer differs with the estrogen receptor (ER) alpha status of the tumor," wrote A.
