Bipolar vessel sealing does not reduce postoperative pain

Bipolar vessel sealing does not significantly reduce pain after total abdominal hysterectomy.

Researchers in Germany conducted a "retrospective comparison with the suture technique" and a bipolar vessel sealing system (BVSS).

The BVSS "used in abdominal hysterectomy procedures for benign bleeding disorders does not reduce postoperative pain within the first 36 hours," reported A. Niesel and coauthors working at Klinik Preetz.
