Etonogestrel subdermal implant is treatment option for pelvic disease

Physicians in England reported on their experience using etonogestrel subdermal implant to treat five women who presented with severe symptoms of endometriosis.

According to background information in their report, "Endometriosis is 1 of the commonest benign gynecological disorders and has a peak incidence between 30 and 45 years of age. Treatment options are medical or surgical, depending on the location and extent of the disease and the woman's childbearing aspirations or need for contraception."
