Intervention helps women treated for cancer make major dietary changes

In a study of diet and breast cancer recurrence, the first finding is that women who've been treated for breast cancer are able to make substantial dietary changes with the help of dietitians. The ongoing nationwide Women's Healthy Eating and Living Study in the U.S. is trying to determine if a diet high in vegetables, fruit, and fiber and low in fat can reduce the recurrence of breast cancer in women. Researchers at the University of California, San Diego at La Jolla and other institutions looked at whether the techniques being used to help women consume this diet are working.
