Peptide assay variability in IGF-I-based risk estimates compared

According to a study from France, "Circulating insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) and its major binding protein IGF binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) have been associated with increased risk of premenopausal breast cancer, although risk estimates varied broadly. "An extension of a case-control study (138 cases, 259 matched controls) on IGF-I and breast cancer in premenopausal women nested in the New York University of Women's Health Study cohort offered the opportunity to address the hypothesis that such variability may have been the result of variations in the ability of different IGFBP-3 assays to specifically measure intact/functional forms of the protein," wrote S....
