New data illuminates research in osteoporosis

Data on osteoporosis are outlined in reports from Italy, Japan and Finland. Study 1: Raloxifene was found to modulate interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha synthesis in in vivo studies. "Raloxifene (RAL), a selective estrogen receptor modulator, is indicated for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. RAL, by decreasing bone turnover, prevents bone loss and microarchitecture damage, reducing the incidence of osteoporotic fractures," explained W.
