New data illuminates research in cancer genetics

Data on cancer genetics are outlined in reports from Iceland, the North Ireland and Australia. Study 1: Scientists in Iceland have determined that familial ovarian cancer there is due to BRCA2 gene mutations, not those of the BRCA1 gene. "A single founder mutation in each of the BRCA genes has been identified in Iceland," said T. Rafnar and colleagues, Iceland Genomics Corp., Reykjavik.
