SIV macaque model may help elucidate antibody response to HIV in breast milk

The rhesus macaque model of simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) may help researchers better understand the role of antibody response to HIV in breast milk.

"As a model of breast milk transmission of HIV, we characterized humoral immune responses in the milk and plasma of 14 female rhesus macaques with suckling infants," reported J. Rychert and colleagues, Louisiana State University.
