B7-H4 protein expression is almost ubiquitous in ductal and lobular breast cancer, report pathologists. This suggests B7-H4 is an important factor in the disease. Barbara Tringler, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, and colleagues there and with diaDexus, Inc., South San Francisco, California, "[investigated] the expression of B7-H4 protein, a member of the B7 family that is involved in the regulation of antigen-specific immune responses, in normal breast and in primary and metastatic breast carcinomas."
