New findings in osteoporosis described

Data on osteoporosis are outlined in reports from the United States, United Kingdom and France. Study 1: Calcitonin (200 IU) effectively decreases bone resorption in elderly women at risk of osteoporosis, study results show. "Salmon calcitonin is a potent inhibitor of osteoclastic activity," wrote A.K. Srivastava and colleagues at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Administration Medical Center, Loma Linda, California. As its effect in older women with high bone turnover and so at high risk of osteoporosis, Srivastava's group studied "acute effects of calcitonin treatment on bone resorption markers in elderly women..." ...
