Company exercises option for rights to blood platelet modification technology

ZymeQuest, Inc. (ZymeQuest), which discovers, develops and commercializes carbohydrate-modified blood products for use in transfusion medicine, announced that it has exercised its option to license worldwide rights to a new method of treating platelets developed by Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH).

The new method, designed to enable platelets to be stored under refrigeration, could prolong their shelf life by a week or more. BWH granted the option to ZymeQuest in May 2004.
