Researcher wins Canadian Merck Frosst Prize for work on BRCA1 gene

Canada's highest honor in biochemistry was recently awarded to a University of Alberta researcher specializing in breast cancer research. The Canadian Society of Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology awarded Dr. Mark Glover and his University of Alberta team the 2005 Merck Frosst Prize. The award recognizes researchers with less than 10 years of independent experience who have made ground-breaking discoveries. Glover, a Canada Research Chair in Structural Molecular Biology, has gained national attention for his work that seeks to understand, at the structural level, how genes and DNA are regulated and repaired.
