Single embryo transfer and IVF/ICSI outcome reviewed

A review article in a recent issue of Human Reproduction Update assessed "the value of single embryo transfer (SET) to prevent multiple pregnancies (MP) after in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)." Author Jan M.R. Gerris, PhD, Middelheim Hospital, Antwerp, wrote, "The incidence of MP (twins and higher order pregnancies) after IVF/ICSI is much higher (about 30%) than after natural conception (about 1%).
