Women with low libido have decreased androgen levels

Women with low libido tend to have lower androgen levels than women with normal sex drive, and this finding correlates positively with female sexual function index domains, according to a study from Turkey.

B. Turna and colleagues, Ege University, Izmir, investigated a possible correlation between lower androgen levels and female sexual function index (FSFI) in women with low libido (20 premenopausal, mean age: 36.7, range 24-51 years; 20 postmenopausal (mean age 54; 45-70 years) and compared their findings in this group with data on age-matched women with normal libido.
