Researchers publish new studies and findings in the area of breast cancer

New findings from Canada, the United States and Spain describe advances in breast cancer. Study 1: Reduced expression of the PTEN gene is predictive of relapse in breast cancer patients treated with tamoxifen, researchers have found. "Tamoxifen treatment substantially improves the 10-year survival of women with estrogen-receptor (ER)-alpha positive tumors. However, approximately one-third of all breast cancer patients with ER-alpha positive tumors progress on antiestrogen therapy.
