The impact of depressive symptoms on dementia and Alzheimer's disease may vary with gender, according to a study from Italy.

G. Dal Forno and colleagues, University Campus BioMedico, Rome, said, "Depression associates with increased risk for dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD), although it is unclear whether it represents an actual risk factor or a prodrome.
