Recent findings illuminate research in breast cancer

Investigators in the United States have published new breast cancer data.

Study 1: A new study discusses keys to increasing testing accuracy in breast cancer, including interlaboratory standardization for estrogen receptor (ER) analysis by immunohistochemistry.

"The ER is a regulator of cellular growth, proliferation, and differentiation. In addition to having prognostic value, ER is the most important biologic marker of therapeutic response in breast cancer. Some level of measurable ER protein is expressed in 70-80% of human breast," investigators in the United States reported.
