New data illuminates research in breast cancer

Data on breast cancer are outlined in reports from the United States and Japan. Study 1: African American and white women exhibit different prevalence of CYP3A5 polymorphisms, but these don't appear to affect tamoxifen metabolism in postmenopausal women of either race with breast cancer. University of Maryland researchers wrote, "Tamoxifen (TAM) is widely used for treatment and prevention of breast cancer. TAM is metabolized by cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes, including CYP3A5.
