New findings in the area of atherosclerosis described

Investigators in the United States, Australia and Japan have published new atherosclerosis data.

Study 1: Endogenous sex hormones in postmenopausal women may play a regulatory role in their lipid metabolism, according to a study from Johns Hopkins University.

"Previous studies have revealed that exogenous estrogen has a beneficial effect on the lipid profile; however, studies examining the relation between endogenous hormones and lipid profiles in postmenopausal women have yielded conflicting results," wrote S. Mudali and colleagues.
