Findings advance knowledge in breast cancer research

Reports from Slovenia, Italy and Canada highlight recent research on breast cancer. Study 1: Breast cancer patients with micrometastatic sentinel lymph node (SLN) and preoperatively uninvolved axillary lymph nodes were assessed minimal risk of macrometastases in the non-sentinel lymph nodes (NSLN). According to published research from Slovenia, "Micrometastases in the SLN carry a considerable risk of macrometastases in the NSLN, resulting in axillary lymph node dissection (ALND).
