Refeeding after chronic dietary energy restriction reverses the anticancer effect of dietary energy restriction. "Dietary energy restriction (DER) is a potent inhibitor of mammary carcinogenesis, but the responsible mechanisms are not fully understood. In a number of model systems, DER is associated with a decrease in circulating levels of IGF-1.
