Concurrent use of trastuzumab and chemotherapy significantly reduces recurrence

A study led by a Mayo Clinic researcher in Jacksonville, Florida, and conducted by the North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG) has provides important new data about the effectiveness and safety of a breast cancer treatment combining chemotherapy and the monoclonal antibody trastuzumab (Herceptin).

According to Mayo Clinic medical oncologist and NCCTG study chair Edith Perez, MD, these results could change the standard of care for thousands of women with breast cancer.
