YB-1 protein elicits deficient cell division leading to tumorigenesis

The Breast Cancer Research group at the Bonn Research Center CAESAR (Center of Advanced European Studies And Research) has demonstrated how healthy breast tissue cells mutate into carcinomatous cells due to the endogenous protein YB-1. YB-1 elicits deficient cell division leading to genetic instability and tumorigenesis, the researchers report.
